What your app needs
The few things an app will need to run on nuubi, in plain words.
nuubi is early
Your AI tool will do most of this. You don't need to learn these names. They're here so you can see what's involved, and so you know what to ask for. They may change before nuubi opens.
It has to start and answer
Your app has to work on your computer first. On nuubi, it will have 60 seconds to start. If it needs longer, you can ask for up to 300 seconds.
Your app will listen on a port. A port is a numbered door that visitors come in through. nuubi will tell your app which one with a setting called PORT.
It keeps saved things in one place
Only one folder on nuubi survives an update or a restart. It's called /data, and your app can find it with a setting called NUUBI_DATA_DIR. Anything your app saves somewhere else will be lost.
If your app needs a database, which is an organized place to keep information, your AI tool can add one. nuubi will then give your app its address in a setting called DATABASE_URL.
If a setting nuubi gives your app has the same name as one you set yourself, nuubi's wins.
It can know who's signed in
Visitors sign in before they reach your app, so your app doesn't have to build that part. nuubi will tell your app who each person is with headers. A header is a small label on each request that reaches your app.
X-Nuubi-User-Idis an id for that person that stays the same.X-Nuubi-User-Emailis their email address.
Your app can trust these labels because only nuubi can reach it.
nuubi will also check that your app is still running. Those checks carry the label X-Nuubi-Probe: 1. Your app shouldn't treat them as a new person.
If your app already has a login
You'll have two choices. You can keep your login behind nuubi's, which means people sign in twice but nothing has to change. Or your AI tool can match each person's email to the users your app already has.
Pages anyone can reach
You can choose parts of your app that skip sign-in. This is for things like webhooks, which are messages another service sends to your app. Your app won't get the labels above on those parts, because nobody has signed in.
When a sign-in runs out
A sign-in lasts 7 days on each app. After that, your app's page may need to reload so nuubi can sign the person back in. If they've signed in anywhere on nuubi in the last 30 days, this happens without them doing anything. Your AI tool can add the small piece of code that handles this.
Signing out
nuubi adds nothing to your app's pages, so your app needs its own sign-out button. Your AI tool can add it in a few lines. Signing out signs that person out of every nuubi app on that device.
